World Food Day 2025: Sustainable Food Systems and the Future of Farming

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) marks World Food Day 2025 with a call for “global cooperation towards a peaceful, sustainable, prosperous, and food-secure future.” FAO emphasizes that collaboration among governments, institutions, the private sector, civil society, and individuals is essential to transform food systems that ensure access to healthy diets while supporting a lifestyle in harmony with our planet.

This year’s theme, Together for a Food-Secure Future,” highlights the urgent need to build resilient and inclusive agri-food systems in response to global challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and food loss and waste.

As part of the World Food Day activities, Assoc. Prof. Oya Irmak Cebeci will deliver a seminar entitled Sustainable Food Systems and the Future of Farming” contributing to this global call at the local level. The seminar will address:

  • Environmental sustainability in the food production chain,
